Our Take On The Compact Car Sales Numbers

Passenger car sales across Canada showed a downward trend in August, with the segments below some of the worst hit.

Few compact car nameplates managed to grow sales, although the top-two of the Honda Civic and Hyundai Elantra were among those to go green year-on-year.

Year-to-date, not a single compact nameplate is doing better than it was at this point last year.

Subcompact cars paint a similarly dreary picture – the segment is down by a third year-on-year, with most brands seeing steep declines here.
