Our Take On The Small And Midsize Luxury SUVs Sales Numbers
With SUVs accounting for more than 50% of BMW brand sales in September, its entries into the chart below fared well in the ninth month.
The recently-launched X2 rocketed to the top of the subcompact luxury SUV sales standings, while X3 in the small luxury SUV sales chart had its best month ever in the USA, though here it was still bested by the Audi Q5. Audi too has seen its fortunes lean further towards SUVs, and year-to-date a whopping 55% of its sales have been of the higher-riding, higher transaction price variety.
The Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class holds on to its lead in the small SUV chart with a 53.8% growth in sales compared to this point last year, though it and everything else are bested by the volume moved by the Lexus RX.
Of those RX’s sold, the hybrid offering is where Lexus has seen most growth; RXh sales shot up 86% year-on-year, with Lexus declaring it the hybrid model’s best third quarter for the past eight years.
