Small and Midsize Luxury Car sales in Canada were a mixed bag for the month of March. The Small Car segment was down 1,400 sales. The Midsize Car segment was up around 1,900 sales.
In the Small Luxury Car segment, the leader was the Mercedes-Benz C-Class although it was down roughly 29 percent. The vast majority of the segment saw serious sales decreases. Of the 21 cars in the segment, only five saw sales increases.
The Midsize Luxury Car segment was up significantly, but that was because of the Tesla Model 3. The vehicle managed to sell 2,100 units, which means the segment would have actually been down without the Tesla Model 3.
The YTD numbers for the Small and Midsize Luxury Car segments looked similar to the monthly numbers. It will be interesting to see if the Tesla Model 3 can continue to prop up the segment as the year moves forward.
