Our Take On The Small and Midsize Luxury Cars Sales Numbers
Sales of entry-level luxury cars in Canada are dwindling; after June 2018’s figures are taken into account, total sales of small luxury cars are behind the same point in 2017 by 9.7%.
The segment leader by a clear margin remains the Mercedes-Benz C-Class, though its sales are down by 11.3% after two quarters. Its compatriots in the small luxury sedan market – the Audi A4 and BMW – are behind by even more.
The heavily incentivised Acura TLX was up 7.8% year-to-date at the end of last month, though in June its sales for the month fell by over 40% year-on-year.
In the midsize luxury segment, BMW 5-Series sales continue on their strong streak, while the addition of Tesla Model 3 estimates to our sales chart boost the segment to 29% growth for June.
Remove the Tesla from the numbers, and across the segment sales came in 3.68% below June 2017’s total.
