Our Take On The Numbers

Our countdown of SUV sales for September 2018 shows that this cross-section of the market escaped a drop in overall sales – but only just barely.

SUV sales were up 0.12% year-on-year in September, denoting a difference of just 95 sales between September 2017 and September 2018’s total.

The highest-selling SUV to return growth year-on-year was Nissan’s compact crossover the Qashqai, up 15.3% year-on-year while the eight models above it in terms of volume all ended the month down on the previous September’s sales.

It and the recently-introduced Hyundai Kona have made waves in this market since introduction, with both frequently appearing in the top-20 monthly Canadian SUV sales.
