Here you will find the YTD passenger car leaders in the United States for September 2017 YTD. Each month we compile passenger car sales data and reports for North American markets and analyze it to create the best selling list below.
In a remarkable turnaround, only two out of the top 10 passenger cars failed to post positive growth in September.
Both the Hyundai Elantra (down 25.7%) and the Nissan Altima (down 33.8%) are substantially behind figures their performance from September 2016. The Altima is about to receive an update with advanced safety tech and revamped interiors for 2018, while the Elantra is due to be superseded by a sportier, European-inspired model as the Korean brand looks to attract buyers seeking an engaging drive over crossover practicality and value back into a hatchback.
Outside of the top 10, things are not looking so rosy for the Passenger Car segment. Year-on-year, total sales in September are down over 110,000 when compared with last September, with the deficit in year-to-date sales now over half a million.
