Our Take On The Minivan Sales Numbers

Minivan sales were up 19.2% in April, showing progress from April 2017’s dip.

Only three models in the table didn’t contribute to that growth; the Chrysler Town & Country sold precisely zero units in Canada last month, while the Mazda 5 and Kia Sedona, both low-volume players in this segment, saw sales decrease year-on-year.

The Dodge Grand Caravan, at the other end of the scales, topped the charts with almost 6000 sales for the month. While this isn’t an all-time volume record for the Grand Caravan, in terms of daily selling rate it sold at a quicker rate than in April 2016, when sales hit 6368.

That strong rate of sale was enough to grow its sales by 18.5%, with the Toyota Sienna, Honda Odyssey and Chrysler Pacifica all also seeing double-figure percentage growth.
