Our Take On The Midsize SUV Sales Numbers

Sales of midsize SUVs in Canada declined by 5.26% year-on-year in May, with some high-volume players posting notable drops.

The Hyundai Santa Fe Sport topped the sales chart for the month, though its sales fell 15.9% year-on-year. The Ford Edge, in second, saw sales tumble by 22.5%. Jeep’s Grand Cherokee, at odds with most of the rest of the Jeep range for the month, sold 32.5% less frequently in May 2018 than 2017.

Year-to-date overall sales in this segment are still up almost 9% after the fifth month’s sales results have been reported, with the Jeep Wrangler’s strong run of sales providing a welcome boost to that.
