Our Take On The Midsize SUV Sales Numbers
Midsize SUV sales in Canada got off to a slow start for 2019. In January, about 1,700 fewer models sold than this time last year. Of the 22 Midsize SUVs for sale, there were thirteen that saw sales declines.
The sales leader for the segment, the Jeep Wrangler happened to see one of the biggest declines in the segment. Other notable declines included the Ford Explorer, Nissan Murano, and Toyota Highlander among the top 10 highest sellers.
The Jeep Grand Cherokee, Ford Edge, Dodge Durango, and Toyota 4Runner all saw double-digit sales increases. The Kia Sorento saw a sales increase, too, though it was not as dramatic as the others.
SUVs have been hot in the last few years, and it will be interesting to see if the slow sales continue in Canada for the Midsize SUV segment.
