Our Take On The Midsize SUVs Sales Numbers

Continuing its record-breaking sales streak, the Jeep Wrangler outsold the Ford Explorer in the USA in March, with a 70.4% year-on-year sales increase surging the off-roader to the top of the midsize SUV charts in March.

Year-to-date the Wrangler still sits behind the Explorer, but at this rate it looks set to take the top spot in both columns if April sees its success continue.

Its efforts contributed to a 14.4% year-on-year rise for midsize SUVs on the whole, with the market having grown by 10% on Q1 2017’s performance year-to-date.

Other nameplates pushing the segment forward so far this year include the Toyota Highlander, Chevrolet Traverse, Honda Pilot and, in a smaller way by comparison but still showing considerable growth, the Nissan Murano and Mazda CX-9.
