Sales of Midsize SUVs in Canada pushed through in August to drive the segment ahead of its YTD at this point last year by a full 3.4%.
The GMC Acadia had its best month of 2017 so far, moving 504 units in the 27 selling days of August.
The Mazda CX-9 also increased its sales by almost 50% year-on-year, continuing its strong growth from the previous month. This time last year, it had more than doubled its YTD sales. While that feat hasn’t been repeated, Mazda can still be happy with the second-gen CX-9’s sales since its introduction in 2016.

GCBC isn’t here to break down segments, an impossible task for any group, but to display sales data for the sake of comparison. The more ways sales data can be displayed, the better. This explains why you’ll see the Wrangler and Xterra listed with small SUVs, too, and the Subaru Outback shown with mainstream cars… because readers have wanted it both ways. You can always find the sales results for EVERY vehicle and form your own competitive sets by using the All Vehicle Rankings posts.
