Our Take On The Midsize Car Sales Numbers
September saw midsize hybrid car sales take a dip, though year-to-date the market is still very healthy.
Four out of the five electric and hybrid midsize models detailed in our chart below have seen sales surge over the first three quarters, making for an overall increase in sales of 15.4% year-to-date. Add to that the success that Tesla has had this year so far at the premium end of the market and it’s clear to see that the incentives available up to this month have been doing some good for these nameplates.
Our entire hybrid chart sold fewer units put together than the surging Honda Accord moved in September. Accord sales were up 26% for the month, which Honda said helped plug the hole left in its inventory of HR-V, Fit and Insight models after flooding in Mexico.
