Here you will find the Midsize Car sales leaders in Canada for May 2018. Each month we compile the Midsize Car sales data and reports for North American markets and analyze it to create the best selling list below.
Overall year-on-year decline for midsize car sales in Canada in May 2018 slowed somewhat from April – 10.2% to April’s 10.8% – though remove the now-defunct Chrysler 200’s sales from April’s figures and last month the remaining models actually grew sales by 1.8%.
With a drop of just six sales in the total attributable to the Chrysler 200 in May, that means that declines across the remainder of models in this segment accelerated in May. Sales of the Ford Fusion, Nissan Altima and Hyundai Sonata – important middle-level volume nameplates in this segment – were green through April, but in May returned sales declines in the double-digit percentages.
This despite an extra selling day compared with May 2017.
In May, Canadians bought 50.8% more midsize hybrid cars. Prius sales fuelled the increase, with the highest-volume model in the segment growing sales by 38.6%, though others posted steeper increases.
