The gap between the midsize car market in America’s performance in September 2018 and September 2017 stands at over 20%. Even with the successful addition of healthy selling models like the Kia Stinger and Honda Insight, this segment of the market continues to struggle in the face of the SUV craze.
Kia continues to buck the trend; along with the Stinger, Optima sales have increased 10% year-on-year. The later Kia outsold the Chevrolet Malibu among others in September, as GM continues to focus on its SUVs and trucks and the high (reported by GM to be a record) transaction value they attract.
