There was some recovery for Midsize cars in the USA in year-on-year terms; after July’s almost 20% rift between the total sales for the same month in 2016, August sees that rift drop to just 7%, though August 2016 was hardly the Midsize segment’s best month either.
The Chevrolet Malibu and Toyota Camry both exceeded their figures from that month considerably, with the Malibu selling a full 6,002 vehicles more than 2016’s equivalent month, but the recent headwinds in the US car market have prevented either from being anywhere close to last year’s YTD.
Sales of Hybrid and Electric Vehicles remain consistently strong, with recent addition the Kia Niro selling roughly equivalent amounts in August than July – though with an extra selling day for August this could be considered a slight fall in performance when compared with the month before it.
