March 2019 – The Best-Selling Vehicles In America – Every Vehicle Ranked
The GCBC Analysis
Unsurprisingly, the Ford F-Series was the overall sales leader for the month of March. It was followed by the Ram Pickup and the Chevrolet Silverado in that order.
Of the top ten models in terms of overall volume, only three saw sales increases for the month of March. Those increases were single digit percentage rises, too. On the other hand, three of the models that saw sales percentage decreases observed double-digit percentage declines.
The sales volume leader was one of them. Ford’s F-Series saw a decline in sales of more than 12 percent. Other models saw notable declines, too, and in general, there were more sales declines than increases. The YTD numbers show similar results.
While overall sales appear to be down, there were some models that stood out in terms of sales percentage increases. Near the top of the heap in terms of volume for the month is the Ram Pickup, which saw an increase of more than 9 percent.
The Jeep Grand Cherokee and Toyota Tacoma both saw significant double-digit percentage sales increases, so it’s safe to say it’s not all bad news. Many crossovers and SUVs, like the Mitsubishi Outlander and the Hyundai Kona, had very impressive showings for March. Most sales increases were much more modest , though.
Important note: Both Ford and GM have switched to quarterly reporting, making it more difficult to accurately gauge crossover sales. We won’t have results to report for Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, GMC, Ford or Lincoln until the end of each quarter.
