Our Take On The Large SUV Sales Numbers

May 2018’s figures for large SUV sales in Canada come in at a drop on May 2017, but the segment missed the mark by an agonizing 50 sales last month, meaning its lead over 2017’s performance to this point remains steady.

Canadian buyers have bought 21% more large SUVs in the first five months of this year than last, with all but two nameplates in the green year-to-date. Chevrolet’s Tahoe and Suburban are among those with the steepest increases, with the latter having sold at more than double the rate it did to this point in 2017.

Those that remain in the red year-to-date are the Ford Expedition – down 300 units at the top of the chart – and the Toyota Sequoia, a 5% decline in demand for which accounts of just 17 sales on the bottom line.
