A strong first quarter for the Large SUV segment in America quickly tailed off as the year got into its stride. Since March the segment has only shown sales growth year-on-year in May this year – four months out of the last nine, compared with seven out of nine. Only the Nissan Armada now remains ahead in year-to-date terms, with the rest of the market slipping behind its performance to this point last year.
The Chevrolet Tahoe had its best sales month of 2017 so far in September, with 9,397 registrations reported. A year ago, September 2016 had been its best month to that point in the year, though this year’s peak in sales over the first 9 months falls short of last year’s by 654 sales for the Tahoe.
The Toyota Sequoia’s 6% increase year-on-year in September cancels out last month’s 41 unit shortfall to August 2016.
