Our Take On The Large SUVs Sales Numbers
After 2017’s astronomical growth to this point, there had to come a point where that evened off for full-size volume-brand SUVs.
After February’s figures, large SUV sales in America are 6.6% behind where they were at this point last year.
Chevrolet’s Tahoe and Suburban have kept their sales in the green, with the latter now taking a fifth of market share sales in the large SUV segment; between them, they make up more than 50% of large SUVs sold in America so far this year.
Ford blames order timing for skewing the Expedition’s results, and says that retail sales have increased 41.4% year-on-year with most of the Expeditions sold still being high trim level models.
The Nissan Armada is the only other large SUV to post growth in February, with an 11.3% increase year-on-year putting it 14.2% ahead year-to-date.
