Our Take On The Large Luxury Car Sales Numbers

Mercedes-Benz S-Class sales rose 23.3% year-on-year in Canada, furthering the growth seen this time last year.

Other than the Tesla Model S – sales of which also grew in March by around 25% according to estimates – the S-Class continues to dominate the large luxury passenger car market in Canada. Year-to-date, its sales have outpaced its closest competitor, the Porsche Panamera, by more than two-to-one.

The Panamera has shaken up matters in this segment of late, displacing the BMW 7-Series to take the third spot in terms of sales volume for the first quarter of 2018.

So far this year, the Lexus LS has trebled its sales volume, with March providing a boost to its sales for the quarter as the nameplate’s best month on record in the Canadian market.
