Our Take On The Large Luxury Cars Sales Numbers
Mercedes-Benz S-Class sales grew year-on-year in April 2018.
BMW 6-Series sales grew year-on-year in April 2018.
Lexus LS sales more than doubled in April 2018 on their performance compared with a year ago.
US customers seeking luxury vehicles are still buying sedans.
Year-to-date, including sales estimates for the Tesla Model S, the market has grown 14.3%, though not all nameplates are seeing increases.
While its sleeker, more coupe-leaning 6-Series counterpart is seeing sales rise, the G11 7-Series is seeing sales slide, even with the addition of hybrid variants that discreetly increase the model’s miles-per-gallon figure.
For BMW, its X-badged SUVs continue to grow their share of the market; the brand’s SUVs made up 51% of its sales last month in the US. Due to arrive in production form in November, it could be that large luxury buyers seeking the ultimate in luxury, performance and prestige that also want a BMW badge on the front of their vehicle are holding out that little bit longer.
