Our Take On The Large Car Sales Numbers

Large Cars in Canada have gotten off to a good start in 2019. February numbers looked good with almost 500 more sales than this time last year. That sales increase helped push the YTD number well into the positive, which bodes well for the segment for the rest of the year.

The Dodge Charger led the way in terms of sales volume. It also saw a nearly 46 percent increase. The big surprise was the dated Ford Taurus, which saw a significant sales increase over this time last year of more than 252 percent. The Nissan Maxima and Kia Cadenza also saw notable sales increases in the double-digit percentages.

The only models that saw sales declines were the Chrysler 300, Chevrolet Impala, and the Buick LaCrosse. Each of them saw double-digit sales percentage decreases when compared to this time last year.

It will be interesting to see what happens next month and if the models that saw significant sales increase will do so again in March.
