Large car sales in Canada soared last month, as the segment made sharp gains on August 2017’s paltry performance.

Total sales of the vehicles below hit levels not seen for this month since August 2015, with the top-four nameplates all describing a sharp upward curve.

While strong pickup sales were lauded in providing Ford Canada with record sales in August, praise must also be given to the Taurus, which doubled its sales against a backdrop of tumbling passenger car sales.

The Chevrolet Impala also came close to doubling its volume compared with last August, with an 88% swell in its sales volume putting it head and shoulders ahead of the competition.
