Our Take On The Large Cars Sales Numbers
The Toyota Avalon and Kia Cadenza cling on as two large passenger sedans that managed to grow sales on April 2017’s numbers. In the Kia’s case, that growth was just by 10 units, but with things the way they are in this segment, Kia will no doubt be pleased as it pushes retail sales over fleet.
While other automakers seem to be fleeing from sedans, Toyota continues to find success with its Avalon. In the US market, 3254 sales is not a huge amount, and for the month of April isn’t anywhere near the highs the Avalon nameplate achieved in the fourth month of 2013 or 2014.
But as rivals begin to cave to market pressures by focusing more on their SUV lineup – rumours and statements from various manufacturers are that many of the vehicles in the large sedan market are not long for this world – Toyota continues to invest in its Avalon, having announced the 2019 model in April.
Tellingly, its sales were up 18.5% last month, the fourth month in succession it has experienced year-on-year growth.
