Our Take On The Numbers

Of the top 10 SUVs for sale in Canada, seven of them saw sales decreases. Many of those decreases were well within the double digits.

The Toyota RAV4 led the way in terms of sales volume with a strong opening for 2019. Sales were up 31.62 percent for January over this time last year.

However, the next six models in terms of sales volume were down. Decreases for most models weren’t small either. For example, the Jeep Wrangler saw a decline of 56.35 percent. Of the other five models in that group, only the Hyundai Tucson experienced a minor decline.

Other increases in the top 10 sellers included the Nissan Qashqai, with a sales increase of 13.47 percent.

As 2019 continues, it will be interesting to see if the sales declines for the majority of the top-selling SUVs continues.
