Our Take On The Vehicle sales Numbers

It’s important to note that Ford and GM’s sales numbers are excluded from the following report due to the fact that they report quarterly.

With that in mind, Ram led the way with its Pickup in terms of overall sales volume for the month of February. It’s safe to assume that Chevy’s Silverado and Ford F-150 would be right up at the top of the overall vehicle rankings if the sales data were disclosed.

Below that sat a mix of crossover, SUVs, and cars. The Nissan Rogue came in second place overall, followed by the Toyota Corolla. Of the top 10 vehicles, four of them were crossovers and SUVs. There were four cars, and one other truck other than the Ram.

This pretty healthy mix of vehicle types with high sales numbers. Despite this mix, it would seem that overall crossovers and SUVs are still selling better than cars.

If you look at the sales increases for crossovers and SUV you’ll notice that many models saw significant rises in sales when compared to this time last year. So far, most of these sales increases are reflected in the YTD sales numbers as well.

We expect this to continue as the year moves forward and are interested to see where Ford and GM’s vehicles land once the numbers are released.

Important note: Both Ford and GM have switched to quarterly reporting, making it more difficult to accurately gauge crossover sales. We won’t have results to report for Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, GMC, Ford or Lincoln until April 2019.
