Our Take On The Commercial Van Sales Numbers
Ford products once again dominate the US commercial van market sans General Motor’s figures, with the Transit and Transit Connect products taking the top spots in the full-size and small / midsize van categories.
The Mercedes-Benz Sprinter was the only other nameplate to have reported year-on-year growth in the sector; 1.8% more Sprinters were sold this May than last, though its daily selling rate actually fell compared with last May.
Ram products in this category saw shortfalls to last year’s performance, with the Ram ProMaster City’s drop in sales accounting for over 900 fewer units moved than this time last year.
*GM has now switched to quarterly reporting so figures for Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet and GMC are not up to date. We have opted against using estimated sales figures for these brands as the estimates across publications have been inconsistent.
Going forward, GoodCarBadCar will be releasing quarterly sales reports that include all figures on a quarterly basis.
