Our Take On The Commercial Van Sales Numbers
A year-on-year drop in Commercial Van sales in the USA sees the YTD for the ten months to October’s end slip further behind the 2016 total at this point.
The Ford Transit tops the table, and marginally sneaks ahead of its total for the previous October, with a 0.9% increase in sales. 31.7% of all vans sold in the US in October were Transits, though this is a drop in market share on September when the Transit took 33.9% of the market.
The GMC Savana’s parabolic progress continues. 1,845 were sold in the US in October, after almost 3,500 were sold in September.
The Mercedes-Benz Metris looks set to end 2017 on a high, as its 18.3% lead on itself in year-to-date terms sets it in good stead heading in to the final two months of the year. Even if it were to repeat its two lowest months of sales this year for November and December’s figures (namely: January with 398, and February just 380), the Metris will still easily break through the 6,012 that were sold in 2017.
