Midsize SUV Sales Figures In Canada – April 2013 And Year-To-Date

2013 Buick Enclave brown

1059 GM Lambda crossovers were sold in Canada in April 2013, just enough to pip the Ford Explorer and Jeep Grand Cherokee last month. Sales of the Buick Enclave, Chevrolet Traverse, GMC Acadia, and the Jeep all increased on a year-over-year basis. Explorer sales dipped slightly in April but are up 8% through the first four months of 2013.

A bit less costly than those five Detroit utilities, the Hyundai Santa Fe is surging in popularity this year. Compared with similarly pricey (and not dissimilarly-sized) small crossovers like the Ford Escape and Toyota RAV4, the Santa Fe isn’t a top seller. But viewed in the light of bigger and/or more expensive utilities like the Honda Pilot and Toyota Highlander, the Santa Fe is wildly common in Canada.

Moreover, add to the Santa Fe’s 2432-unit April total another 204 sales via the Hyundai Santa Fe XL, which is only just getting started? Indeed, though only getting started, the XL still sold about as often in April as Mazda’s much-improved CX-9.

These tables are now sortable, so you can rank Canadian midsize SUVs any which way you like. Suggestions on how GCBC should break down segments can be passed on through the Contact page.

GCBC isn’t here to break down segments, an impossible task for any group, but to display sales data for the sake of comparison. The more ways sales data can be displayed, the better, right? This explains why you’ll see the Wrangler and Xterra listed with small SUVs, too, and the Subaru Outback shown with mainstream cars, and the Buick Enclave shown with luxury SUVs, because readers have wanted it both ways. You can always find the sales results for EVERY vehicle and form your own competitive sets by using the All Vehicle Rankings posts.
