In February 2014, the Mercedes-Benz Canada’s S-Class outsold the Audi A8, BMW 7-Series, Jaguar XJ, and Porsche Panamera combined. Sales of the S-Class and its CL-Class (soon-to-be S-Class Coupe) offshoot were up 168% in February; up 263% year-to-date.
At this stage last year, the Jaguar XJ was Canada’s leading luxury flagship sedan. XJ sales have tumbled 61% in 2014 as sales of the expanding XF range have jumped 69%.
Even the XJ’s drastic decline has not made the big Jag Canada’s least-favourite big luxury car. The Lexus LS isn’t selling as often as the XJ, neither is Audi’s A8.
But even the segment-leading S-Class is a tremendously rare car. The Fiat 500L has sold more frequently over the last two months. So is the Acura ILX. And the Subaru Legacy.

These tables are now sortable, so you can rank large luxury cars any which way you like. Suggestions on how GCBC should break down segments can be passed on through the Contact page.
