Lexus Canada hasn’t reported a double-digit sales month for their flagship LS sedan since December of last year. Lexus Canada hasn’t sold more than 20 LS sedans in a single month since July 2010. The suggestion that LS sales are low because potential customers are waiting for the new model is faulty… unless customers have been waiting a long time. 

The BMW 7-Series, which wasn’t even the class leader in June 2012, outsold the LS at a rate of 9-to-1. The historically recommendable but unpopular Audi A8 was nearly five times more likely than the Lexus to be purchased in June. The Mercedes-Benz S-Class? With its CL-Class coupe sibling, the Benz 2.9 times per day in June (including Sundays.) One LS sold every five days. Not a single LS600hL found a buyer.

Lexus’s own jumbo-sized LX570 trails most of its classmates by a hefty margin, but even here the LS appears dreadfully unpopular. The LX570 sold four times for every LS. LX570 sales are improving, too, up 333% compared to June of last year. June 2012 was the LX’s worst month since only four were sold in February.
