While we’re on the topic of brand domination, 46.7% of all Dodge/Ram sales were Ram pickup trucks. And the Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra accounted for 42.2% of all General Motors sales in December. Trucks are important. At least to certain automakers. The Tacoma and Tundra accounted for just 10.7% of all Toyota sales in December. Nissan’s Titan was worth just 5.3% of Nissan’s total volume.
One other figure might convince you of the important place pickup trucks hold in Canada’s automotive landscape: 18%. Yes, nearly one in five Canadian new vehicle sales in December can be found, not just in this chart, but in the upper 40% of this chart. The Ford F-Series was Canada’s best-selling truck in December 2011. Without it, Canada’s auto industry is a completely different place.
