Year-over-year, small/midsize pickup truck sales jumped by 844 units, a 53% gain, to 2433 May sales. Full-size truck volume decreased 1.5%, on the other hand, as a result of the Ford F-Series’ sharp 17% decline.
The F-Series was still Canada’s best-selling pickup truck and best-selling new vehicle line overall, but its lead shrunk to just 975 units in May 2015 – the best ever May for the second-ranked Ram P/U – after totalling more than 3500 units in May 2014.
GM’s full-size twins jumped 13% to 9835 sales in May. Their smaller siblings, the Colorado and Canyon, outsold the class-leading Toyota Tacoma by 74 units. They lead the Tacoma by 303 units year-to-date, having earned 44% of the sub-segment’s sales.
