Our Take On The Pickup Sales Numbers

Pickup trucks remains one of the most voluminous segments in the US auto market after the conclusion of the first six month of 2018, with the market as a whole up 5.9% year-to-date compared with the first half of 2017.

There is little change to the chart order of the pickup trucks below compared to March 2018, when we last had a full view of sales for all the nameplates in the segment. What has changed is the difference between the year-to-date performance of some of these pickups.

The Chevrolet Silverado has doubled its percentage-point increase over its 2017 performance since its figures were last reported three months ago; back at the end of March, it sat 5.5% ahead of Q1 2017. After Q2, the Silverado is 10.7% up for the year.

The GMC Sierra has come back from a 16.7% deficit three months ago to now sit in the great year-to-date. The Chevrolet Colorado has increased its lead by around 10%. The GMC Canyon too has increased its growth for the year so far.
