2019 Canada Midsize SUV Sales Analysis
Report Updated: With December 2019 Data on January 8th, 2020
Top Level Canada Reports: By Manufacturer / By Brand / By Model / Best Sellers
Midsize SUV sales in Canada looked good both in the month of December and the year as a whole. The segment was expected to do better this year than last year and it certainly delivered.
When you look at the month of December alone, you’ll see that the segment was up by about 1,200 units. The segment is up by about 15,800 units when you look at the year as a whole.
The Jeep Wrangler led the way in terms of sales. The model, however, was down for the year when compared to last year. It was up for the month of December, though. The Wrangler was followed by the Ford Edge and then the Hyundai Santa Fe. The Ford Edge saw a big jump in sales in December and a healthy bump in sales for the year. The Hyundai was down considerably for both.
We expect the segment to do strong sales in 2020. The midsize SUV segment has been trending up for years now with no end in sight. We’d be surprised if it began to struggle.
Data will trickle in throughout the day with the numbers being finalized by EOD. GCBC is also happy to announce that we will be adding quarterly sales reports and comparisons in addition to monthly sales comparisons beginning this quarter. We will also be adding monthly sales tables and charts to the mix as well.
Note: FCA US LLC will end its practice of reporting U.S. and Canada sales on a monthly basis following June results. FCA US and FCA Canada will report monthly sales for May and June. The first quarterly report will occur on October 1, 2019, covering the months of July, August, and September.
