2019 Canada Midsize Car Sales Analysis

Report Updated: With December 2019 Data on January 8th, 2020

Top Level Canada Reports: By Manufacturer / By Brand / By Model / Best Sellers

Midsize car sales in Canada didn’t look very good. The segment was down for the month of December, and sales were also down when you look at the year as a whole.

In just the month of December, the segment saw a drop in sales of about 1,400 units. When you look at the year as a whole, the segment was down by 11,000 units.

The Toyota Camry led the way in terms of sales. However, the Camry was down for both the month of December and the year as a whole. The Honda Accord was in second place, and the Toyota Prius Family was in third place.

We fully expect the segment to continue on a downward slope in 2020. The segment has struggled considerably in the last several years. It’ll be interesting to see what happens in this segment in the future.

Data will trickle in throughout the day with the numbers being finalized by EOD. GCBC is also happy to announce that we will be adding quarterly sales reports and comparisons in addition to monthly sales comparisons beginning this quarter. We will also be adding monthly sales tables and charts to the mix as well.

Note: FCA US LLC will end its practice of reporting U.S. and Canada sales on a monthly basis following June results. FCA US and FCA Canada will report monthly sales for May and June. The first quarterly report will occur on October 1, 2019, covering the months of July, August, and September.
