2019 Canada Large Luxury Car Sales Analysis

Report Updated: With December 2019 Data on January 8th, 2020

Top Level Canada Reports: By Manufacturer / By Brand / By Model / Best Sellers

Large car sales in Canada didn’t look too great in either the month of December or the year as a whole. The segment was only down slightly for the month, but it struggled considerably in 2019 as a whole.

The segment saw sales drop by only 35 units for December. However, when you look at the year as a whole, the segment was down by about 1,900 sales.

The Tesla Model S led the way in terms of overall sales volume. The car saw sales go up for the month of December but they dropped for the year as a whole. The Mercedes-Benz S-Class was in second place, though it saw sales drop for both the month and the year as a whole. Porsche’s Panamera was in third place. The vehicle saw a dramatic rise in sales for the month over last year, but a significant drop in sales for the year.

We expect the large luxury car segment in Canada to continue to see sales sink in 2020. The segment has been on a downward slope lately, and with Tesla’s Model S and some of the other higher sellers struggling, we see no reason why 2020 should be the year that things turn around.

Data will trickle in throughout the day with the numbers being finalized by EOD. GCBC is also happy to announce that we will be adding quarterly sales reports and comparisons in addition to monthly sales comparisons beginning this quarter. We will also be adding monthly sales tables and charts to the mix as well.

Note: FCA US LLC will end its practice of reporting U.S. and Canada sales on a monthly basis following June results. FCA US and FCA Canada will report monthly sales for May and June. The first quarterly report will occur on October 1, 2019, covering the months of July, August, and September
