2015 Honda Odyssey EX Long-Term Update: September 2015 – Three Months

2015 Honda Odyssey and 2016 Audi A6

September was a very different month for GCBC’s long-term 2015 Honda Odyssey, the van on which we spent our own money.

With many of our nephews and nieces back in their Sonoran, Pennsylvanian, and Albertan homes, there were no journeys to the Bay of Fundy, far fewer trips to the grandparents’ home across town, and lighter loads overall.

It’s clearly still summer on the Atlantic coast of Nova Scotia, but September means school is in session, work is serious, and evenings are shorter.

As a result, the mileage racked up by our Odyssey was far lower in September than it was in August or July, when a couple of trips to Prince Edward Island dramatically increased the odometer’s read-out.

Less time with the Odyssey doesn’t serve to change our minds about the vehicle’s status as one of the best all-around automotive values available in 2015. In fact, as time goes by, the little things start to mean much more.

We continue to switch a Diono Radian RXT child seat back and forth between weekly test cars from the press fleet – the 2016 Mazda CX-3, 2015 Dodge Charger, 2016 Subaru WRX, and 2016 Audi A6 TDI so far this month – and the Odyssey. Is there another vehicle that makes installing a child seat a simpler task?

Perhaps for many vehicle owners, re-installation of child seats isn’t a factor. In it goes, there it stays.

For us, it’s a constant endeavour. Easily accessible lower anchors and a thin but far-from-flush bar for the Diono’s tether strap makes life easy in the Odyssey.

There’s really nothing about the Odyssey that doesn’t make life just a little bit easier.
