US Minivan Sales Figures By Model

The GCBC Analysis

The minivan segment is not doing very well when you look at sales for the month of June or the year so far. For the month, the segment was down roughly 2,000 units. When you look YTD, the segment was down roughly 36,000 units.

While the monthly sales figures showed a couple of models saw sales increases over this time last year, when you look YTD, you’ll see that every model sold dropped in sales. That doesn’t bode well for the rest of the year.

Leading the pack was the Dodge Grand Caravan with a sales increase of about 9 percent. The Toyota Sienna was the only other model that saw a sales bump. It came in third with the Honda Odyssey separating the Toyota and the Dodge. Honda’s minivan saw a sales decrease of around 3 percent.

With more and more people turning to three-row SUVs and crossovers, it seems the minivan is falling by the wayside, which is a shame because they’re so much more practical than an SUV or crossover.

Below you will find sales figures for all minivans sold in the United States broken down by month and by quarter.

GCBC is also happy to announce that we will be adding quarterly sales reports and comparisons in addition to monthly sales comparisons beginning this quarter. We will also be adding monthly sales tables and charts to the mix as well.

Note: FCA US LLC will end its practice of reporting U.S. and Canada sales on a monthly basis following June results. FCA US and FCA Canada will report monthly sales for May and June. The first quarterly report will occur on October 1, 2019, covering the months of July, August, and September.
