Our Take On The Small and Midsize Luxury Cars Sales Numbers

There’s a lot to love about the vehicles in the Small and Midsize Luxury car segment, but many buyers didn’t see it that way. For the year, sales were down more than 64,000 units. It would seem people are opting for luxury crossovers instead of cars.

The sales leader for the segment was the Mercedes-Benz C-Class. It saw an increase in sales for the month of December over last year’s numbers of 4.6 percent. For the entire year, though, sales dropped by 29.2 percent.

The most notable increase from an annual standpoint was the Alfa Romeo Giulia with an increase of 29.4 percent. Close behind it was the Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class with a 27.1 percent increase for the year. The Audi A5 also saw a notable increase for the year of 21.9 percent.

Other than that, it was pretty much bad news for the segment. If this continues, we may see far fewer Small and Midsize Luxury cars on the market.
