Tesla Model 3 sales climbed yet further, closing out a huge quarter for the premium electric vehicle with sales above 22,000 units.

In September, sales of Model 3 were almost three times that of the Audi Q5. It outsold sales of the Mercedes-Benz C-Class, E-Class and CLS-Class, and sales of the BMW 3- and 4-Series combined for the month.

Most of those aforementioned luxury passenger cars have been surpassed by their SUV counterparts in the top-20. BMW X3 was fourth for the month below the Q5, with a huge spike in sales, while the Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class and Acura RDX also feature highly in the top-20 table below.
