Our Take On The Pickup Sales Numbers

Pickup truck sales fell 4.6% year-on-year for February, with significant losses by the Chevrolet Silverado and the Ram Pickup taking their toll on the overall total.

Other nameplates to post significant declines on last February’s sales include the GMC Sierra and Canyon and the Honda Ridgeline, with all other marques keeping it in the green for 2018’s second month.

The Ford F-Series increased its sales 3.5% on last February in what was the USA’s favourite vehicle’s best sales results for February for 24 years.

Nissan’s offering in this segment also fared well last month, with the Japanese automaker’s Titan full-size pickup seeing sales grow by over a quarter on last February and the mid-size Frontier’s sales shooting up by almost 70% year-on-year.

Demand for full-size pickups dipped 8.4% on last February, while small and midsize pickup sales continue to grow. Year-to-date, pickup sales are currently just over 1100 behind last year’s total to this point.
