Our Take On The Midsize SUVs Sales Numbers

Midsize SUV sales in the USA have risen 7.2% on last year’s performance for the first two months of the year, which is 2% lower than the growth for the same period 2016-2017.

Market share in the SUV segment is down too, with midsize SUVs making up 30.8% of all SUVs sold in America to date this year. That’s as the burgeoning small SUV segment has taken a whopping 48.9% chunk of SUV sales so far.

Two of the midsize segemnt’s heavy hitters – the Ford Explorer and Jeep Grand Cherokee – are currently sitting behind last year’s performance to date.

Notable strong sellers fuelling the growth in this segment are the Jeep Wrangler’s stellar performance for 2018 so far, and the Honda Pilot, sales of which are up by over 50% year-to-date so far as Honda increases availability of its tech-laden midsize SUV.

The GMC Acadia’s best Febrary results ever help drive it to 2.7% growth year-to-date, providing a further lift in the middle-ground of the mid-size SUV market.
