Our Take On The Commercial Van Sales Numbers

Full size van sales tailed off after January’s impressive showing, as sales fell 3.44% on last February.

Demand for small and midsize vans remained strong however, with 9.41% year-on-year growth helping to keep the commercial van segment as a whole 1.15% ahead of this point last year.

680 fewer Ford Transits were sold this February than last, contributing to the overall decline at the full-size end of the van market, along with a more than 10% decrease in demand for its sibling the E-Series.

Mercedes-Benz’s van offering fared well in February, with the Sprinter and Metris growing their February sales by 17.1% and 39.5% respectively. Ram’s ProMaster City sold 10.3% more than last February as its similarly-badged full-size relation the ProMaster saw sales fall by 15.6%.

Ford’s entry in the small / midsize van market, the Transit Connect, was one sale away from equaling its total from last February.
