Our Take On The Large Cars Sales Numbers

November’s increase market-wide of 3.5% is welcome for the Large Car market in America, but cast your eyes back to this time last year and the segment was down more than 19% on the same month in 2015.

Whatever way you cut it, this segment is still suffering at the hands of capacious vehicles like crossovers, tall hatches and small SUVs that represent a better value proposition to the US consumer.

The Chevrolet Impala tops the table, with impressive 54.1% growth year-on-year. It still sits well adrift of 2016’s performance to this point in the year, and will almost without a doubt finish up the year behind last year’s total.

A 9k-plus month marks the Impala’s second-best this year though, and brings it close to the high water mark for this time of year set back in October and November 2015.

The Nissan Maxima propels itself into second place between the Impala and its local rival the Dodge Charger. Maxima sales have been in growth recently after a mid-summer slump. Upgraded tech features heavily in the Japanese sedan’s revisions for the 2018 model year.
