Our Take On The Top 20 Best Selling SUV Sales Numbers

We can’t talk about SUV sales in America without talking about the Toyota RAV4 and its extraordinary growth spurt of late.

Since July the Japanese SUV has seen sales shoot up above 40k per month, and September saw a repeat of its utter dominance in the segment over the last quarter.

Nissan’s Rogue has done well to catch up with the RAV4, but even with its impressive 47.3% year-on-year increase this month it was still 3,426 sales behind the mighty Toyota – hardly a close second.

News was not so good either for the Jeep Cherokee – sales of that fell 12.2% year-on-year from September 2015 to September 2016. The drop over the same period from 2016 to 2017 grew from that to 29%, with the Cherokee’s monthly sales averaging at just 13,269 for the 12 months since. Comparatively, for the 12 months up to September 2016, it averaged 18,265 sales per month. A replacement for the current Cherokee is not due until 2019.
