Our Take On The Pickup Sales Numbers

Sales of pickups in the USA have topped two million in the nine months to date, with sales of full-size pickups and small / midsize pickups up over 8 and 16% respectively year-on-year. Over a quarter of a million pickups were sold across the US in September, helping the segment smash the two million mark one month earlier than it did last year.

The Ford F-Series remains fixed to the top spot, as it and the second-placed Chevrolet Silverado post impressive year-on-year growth of over 20%. Each posted their strongest month of 2017 so far, with the F-Series topping 80,000 registrations for only the fourth time since 2011, and the second this year.

The GMC Sierra very narrowly outsold the Toyota Tacoma in September, with less than 60 registrations separating the pair as they fight over fourth place on our pickup chart.
