Our Take On The Small and Midsize Luxury Cars Sales Numbers

Strong months for the 4- and 5-Series and the electrified i3 help push BMW to a 0.7% increase year-on-year overall, despite segment powerhouse the 3-Series faring 19% worse than September 2016.

Offerings from rivals Audi and Mercedes-Benz were also worse-off this September than the same month in 2016, something that will no doubt sweeten BMW’s good fortunes even more.

The Tesla Model 3 makes an appearance for the first time in our Midsize Luxury car sales chart, with 220 being delivered in the USA during September. Tesla reports that overall deliveries of its range were up 4.5% in the quarter from July-September, although it failed to manufacture as many Model 3s as were anticipated.
