Our Take On The Midsize SUV Sales Numbers

The Canadian Midsize SUV segment pushed on further in September, and is now 4.1% ahead of its YTD this time last year.

Big lifts for the Toyota Highlander, Mazda CX-9, the GMC Acadia and the Ford Explorer all contribute significantly to this increase. The Explorer saw a year-on-year drop in sales versus September 2016, though this is only the second month this year it has failed to grow on the previous year’s numbers, hence its considerable cushion in the year-to-date standings.

The iconic Jeep Wrangler echoed the brand’s performance across the board in Canada, with a 35% year-on-year drop in September. It now has a 2,735-vehicle mountain to climb if it is to reach 2016’s YTD.?

Its stable mate, the Grand Cherokee, fell short of last year by just 5 sales, though in year-to-date terms it stays 1,149 ahead of last year’s performance.
