Small SUV Sales In Canada – July 2017

The Buick Envision’s figures are nothing to be sniffed at – sales of the Small SUV have grown impressively through 2017, with the exception of a minor fall in May the only month that wasn’t better than its previous. Its smaller sibling, the Encore, also fared well in the Subcompact SUVs & Crossovers segment, with sales 63.9% ahead of the same point in 2016. Its monthly figures are down in monthly terms compared with early summer, but are still far from anything to attract much worry.

The Mini Countryman also saw a strong month in July, with 163 hitting Canadian roads. his brings its YTD to 713, a significant increase on the first 7 months of 2017. With the introduction of the electrified Mini Countryman S E, it will be interesting to see whether Qubec’s Bill 104 – which proposes fines of manufacturers not selling enough electric vehicles – will have on sales of the biggest Mini in the range.

GCBC isn’t here to break down segments, an impossible task for any group, but to display sales data for the sake of comparison. The more ways sales data can be displayed, the better. This explains why you’ll see the Encore and XV Crosstrek are listed with small cars, too, and the pricey FJ Cruiser and Xterra with midsizers, as well… because readers have wanted it both ways. You can always find the sales results for EVERY vehicle and form your own competitive sets by using the All Vehicle Rankings posts.
